A lot of things to update after quite some time, hah. The past week has been filled with a lot of activities and events. So this shall be a rather long entry as compared to my last few ones.
Firstly, Internal Elections for the Arts Club. After 1 year, I am the Honorary General Secretary of Arts Club for the 28th Management Committee. (: Thanks for every single person who believed in me, trusted me, supported me, advised me, encouraged me, helped me out & cheered me on! Xin Yu will never be where she is now without all of you. Serious. Anyway, the Internal Elections still took quite a while but it of course ended earlier than last year as there were only 9 of us for now. When I was outside waiting for the results to be announced to us, I was scared and worried for a moment. This is because I have no idea if history will just repeat itself. But after a while, I was thinking if it really happened, then maybe it's fated & I will just go back & do Welfare loh. Luckily it did not, phew. :P I was also nominated as the NUSSU Council Representative along with Caleb, and together with Samuel, the 3 of us will be the Arts Representative.
Secondly, after just being nominated as the representative, the next day is the NUSSU Council Meeting. It was really an eye-opener for me I must say. And it was also a challenge to me as I have to step out of my comfort zone and be active in engaging the student leaders from other clubs etc. I also witnessed for myself an even higher level of bureaucratic system in work when they were electing the people for the NUSSU Exco Constitutional Posts. I also saw my Hwa Chong senior Jia Ho who is the Assist Hon Fin for Engineering Club. Even though the thing was pretty long, I guess time passes quite fast as some of us started adding each other inside this mass MSN conversation whereby we just crapped and joked around. There was even once when we use powerpoint presentation on our laptops to spell out NUSSU COUNCIL and face it to the front during a proposed toilet break. It was really crappy and funny, made the time pass faster.
Thirdly, there was the IFG on Saturday whereby I went down to help out as timekeeper. It was a fun time with all my friends from Arts Club, something like a gathering loh. It was also Sandra's 20th birthday!!! Haha, so the group of us namely me, Juling, Zhimin, Michelle & Sandra just stood in the sun most of the time to take time for the swimming competitions. Kenneth & Amanda were with the organisers most of the time whereas Rosni & Zheng Chuan were announcers plus Chuan Seng was the runner & Caleb was the photographer. We had a fun time discussing about the events and the swimmers! Haha, it was a fun time even though most of us got sunburn in the end. ;)
Lastly, it was the annual Mid-Autumn Festival for Hwa Chong Junior College!!! Haha, I rushed down from RVR and was thankful that I made it just in time for the light-up ceremony which will kick start the whole event! I must say that the council put in more effort this year as the light-up was more impressive and more extensive this time round. I was impressed I must say, good work 34th Student Council! ;) After that, we went up to the reading room to look for teachers and savour on the large variety of mooncakes and snacks displayed on the tables inside. I managed to talk to our form teacher Mrs Tam and she is still the same old self. Other than that, I met up with my class 04S73, my junior class 05S73 and all my Huang Cheng juniors here and there. It was great meeting up with friends but I must say I was a little disappointed as fewer people seemed to turn up this time round for MAF. Never mind, there is always next year I believe.
That's all from me, I will be super duper busy once again as Arts Club will start to occupy a huge portion of my life once again. I will be busy and at times tired or stressed, but I believe I will be happy & satisfied. ^-^
